On Friday morning, Oct. 25, 2013, God sent an angel to collect another one of his children. Carter Rose of 204 Banbury Ave., Petersburg, Va., was called home suddenly, shortly after arriving to work in Southampton County.

Carter is survived by his mother, Janet Rose and father, Carter Prince, both of Petersburg, Va. Carter was a 2011 graduate of Prince George High School. His greatest love was fishing, and he was a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan. His love for his family and friends was unsurpassed, because he relished giving a helping hand whenever needed.

He was employed by Laine's Contracting, and truly loved his job, and was loved by all of the employees. Carter would surely be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He also leaves to cherish his memories: two loving grandmothers, Dorothy Rose of Petersburg and Alberta Prince of Jarratt, Va.; two sisters, LaTasha Rose and TaCarla Jones, both of Petersburg, Va.; three nieces, Aaliyah Wortham, NaShawntae Jones, and Anaysia Bailey; and one nephew, Da'Jun Bailey. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at the Petersburg Chapel-Joseph M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Herbert R. Holly officiating. Burial will be in the Rocky Mount Baptist Church Cemetery, Mckenney. The family will receive relatives and friends at the residence of his mother, 204 Banbury Ave., Petersburg, and can be contacted at 861-3763 (Kenneth and Vonda Thweatt).

The body may be viewed on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Funeral services entrusted to the Petersburg Chapel-Joseph M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home, 530 S. Sycamore St., Petersburg 804-863-4411. Online condolences can be made at www.johnsonservices.us
