Charles Bailey Obituary

Mr. Charles Eugene Bailey, 71, former resident of Petersburg, departed this life on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at Cooke Associates Nursing Home, Florence, S.C.

He was the oldest of four children, born on Nov. 17, 1938, to parents, Mrs. Cynthia Louise Bailey and the late Mr. Charles M. Bailey. He was educated in the Petersburg School System, until pursuing a military career. He was a former Vietnam War veteran, U. S. Marines, and completed his military career in the U. S. Navy. After retiring, he

settled in San Diego, Calif., later relocating to Florence, S.C., for 14 years.

He leaves to cherish in his memories; mother, Cynthia L. Bailey of Petersburg; two sisters, Blanche Gloria Harris (William L.) of Chester, and Cynthia J. Bailey of San Diego; one brother, Joe T. Bailey of Maryland; two aunts, Mrs. Mae C. Dunmore of Richmond, and Mrs. Ruby Finney of Baltimore; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, including devoted Hazel Webster, Lillian Covan, Patricia Spellman, Queen Diggs, Barbara Waller, Lottie Stanish, Willa Mae Stovall, William Diggs, Deborah Brooks, Samuel Cheatman, Barbara Pirtle and Alice Terrell.

A funeral service will be held noon, Nov. 3, 2010, at William N. Bland and Son Funeral Home, Petersburg, with the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Diggs, officiating. The interment will be in the Blandford Cemetery.
