On Sunday, June 15, 2014, God called one of his angels, Mrs. Claudette W. Harris, of 5000 Creek Road, Petersburg, Va., home.

She was born to the late Willie J. and Ethel B. Williams in Petersburg, Va., on March 16, 1938. She was preceded in death by her husband, David A. Harris; daughter, Janice Harris; maternal grandparents, Bessie and Moses Bonner; brothers, James Williams and Willie Williams; sisters, Barbara Baugh and Charlotte Moore; aunts, Catherine Hill, Margaret Ridley and Anna Evans; and nephew, Richard Harris.

Claudette was a graduate of Peabody High School. In early years, she was a member of the First Baptist Church and later became a member of the Good Shepherd Baptist Church. She was a member of the singles ministry until her health declined.

She resided in her early years in Wurtsboro, N.Y. She was employed at Mountains Wurtsboro Laundry, Hotel Jefferson and New Systems Laundry. She was a caregiver to many children. She was an early co-member of the Delectable Heights Social Club.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, two loving and devoted daughters, Pamela H. Jackson (Derrick) and Cynthia H. Fields; five special grandchildren, Courtney D. Fields, Derrick A. Jackson Jr., Tiffany M. Jackson, Tiana A. Jackson and Timothy A. Fields Jr.; one great-granddaughter, Chastity L. Fields; two brothers, William Junny Williams and Richard A. Williams; two aunts, Helen Anderson and Elizabeth Braxton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Service for the Mrs. Claudette Harris will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Good Shepherd Church, 2223 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Va.; the Rev. Jeffrey L. Reaves Sr., pastor, eulogist. Interment will be held at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
