The Final Chapter in God's Book of Life for our dearly beloved, Mr. Cory Leandrew ""Mule"" Smith, Sr., came to a peaceful ending on Saturday, July 7, 2018. Cory was a blessed gift from God born to Fredrick Smith, Sr. and Jean Perkins on June 1, 1972, in Richmond, VA. Cory was greeted at heaven's gates by his parents, Fredrick Smith, Sr. and Daisy Smith; as well as his brother, Almon Smith; grandparents, Estelle and Charlie Smith, Fredrick Smith, Arlenn Trader, Daisy and Richard Felder and Bernice and Elijah Jones.

Cory received his formal education from the Petersburg Public School System. He was a proud member of the Petersburg High School Class of 1992. After graduating, Cory entered the United States Army and had several other occupations. Cory was employed with Hill Phoenix until his health began to decline. He was known to many as ""Mule"" and brought much happiness and laughter to many lives. ""Mule"" was a true dedicated, loyal, avid, and die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Along with many talents his beautiful voice led him to Showtime at the Apollo and he loved singing just as much as the cowboys. His spirit, his love and presence will truly be missed by his dear family and friends.

What a wonderful legacy left behind that will forever be cherished by his devoted wife, Kimberly Smith; his loving children, Cory Smith, Jr., Damanie Smith, Raiesha Weaver, Keona Ruffin, and Marque Cates; loving granddaughters, Kamorre and Kamryn Wright; four sisters, devoted and loving Jammie Smith of Petersburg, Regenia Perkins Graves (Neal) of California, Donielle Madena of Petersburg, and Lucy M. Miles of Hawaii; brothers, Fredrick Smith, Jr., Stith Shands, Lamar and Richard Perkins, and Shawn McBride, all of Petersburg, Derrick Lundy of Dinwiddie, and Jacoby Gusman of Hawaii; mother-in-law, Deloise Weaver of Dinwiddie; brothers-in-law, Donell Dabney, Lorenzo Edwards and Ronald Dabney; god-daughter, Zykaria Slade; god-brother and sister, Steve Walker and Kiasha Mitchell; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, among them devoted Arthur E. Smith (Mary), Tremaine Hardy, Jr., Pairra Seward, and Loren Edwards; life-long friends, Paul Pritchett, Terry Tucker, Rondelle Lindsay, Randy Williams, Robert Cutler, Traay Davis, Marilyn Jackson, and Konique Taylor; numerous cousins among them devoted, Anton Raines, Roy Smith, Jr., Seana Richardson and the Williams family.

Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, July 16, 2018, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 418 Halifax Street, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Diggs, Sr., Pastor and Elder Wesley Nicholas, eulogist. Interment will be private.
