David Fuller Obituary

Mr. David Curtis Fuller (Dave), of 614 North Carolina Ave., Petersburg, Va., peacefully entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va.

He was born on Aug. 13, 1919, in Falls Church, Va.; however, David spent most of his adult life in Petersburg. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Harrison Street, where he was a member of the James H. Threatt Memorial Club until the decline of his health.

David served diligently in the United States Army. When he completed service to his country, he was a masterful general contractor and craftsman. It has often been said of him that if a man could make it, David could fix it. David possessed a natural gift for sports and was a phenomenal baseball player. He touched many hearts with his kindness and quiet demeanor.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alease Hayes Fuller.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a granddaughter, Sharon Johnson of Petersburg, Va.; a brother-in-law, Robertnett J. Hayes (Evelyn) of Ettrick, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Bernice P. Hayes and Thelma P. Hayes, both of Ettrick, Va.; two nephews, Burton N. Hayes Jr. (Mildred) and William Hayes Jr., both of Ettrick, Va.; two nieces, Mrs. Aubrey H. Jackson (Luther) of Petersburg, Va., and Bernita Kaye Hayes of Silver Spring, Md.; several other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at First Baptist Church, 236 Harrison St., Petersburg, Va.; the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Tillman, pastor, officiating. Interment to follow at Blandford Cemetery.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at Mr. Fuller's residence. The family may be contacted by calling Ms. Kaye Hayes, (804) 526-6337.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Fuller this summer. He was a very kind and reserved man. I,am from Pittsburg, just moved here last Feburary. Mr. Fuller would say he liked my accent. I will surely miss him and his smile. But I know he is in a better place.
