David L. Prosise, affectionately known as "Drummer", of 4699 Rawlings Road, Rawlings, Va., departed this earthly life on Monday, July 1, 2013, at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, Va. He was born April 30, 1942, to the late David and Ruth Prosise in Sussex County, Va.

David was educated in the Sussex County public school system. He was a devoted fan to the Sussex Tigers baseball team. He accepted Christ and joined the First Baptist Church of Jarrett, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Ruth Prosise; a brother, George L. Prosise; and two sisters, Ida M. Spencer and Ethel M. Prosise.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving son, Earl Prosise (Cristina) of Richmond; grandchildren, Delano McNair of Petersburg and Arkie Prosise of New Orleans; two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Josephine Prosise-devoted caregiver and Anges Roberts, both of Rawlings, Irene Rose (Jack) of Mckenney, Dora L. Fields of Stony Creek and Lousie Prosise of Petersburg; three brothers, Harvey and Curtis Prosise, both of Stony Creek, and Vincent Prosise (Marilyn) of Petersburg; devoted friends, Bobby Pegram, Herbert Prosise, James Jones, and Jeffery Jones of Mckenney, Winwood Rose of Rawlings; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends too numerous to count, among them are Vanessa Tyree.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013, at First Baptist Church, 18463 Little Mill Road, Jarrett. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body may be viewed Thursday, July 4, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home in Mckenney and at the church one hour prior to the service.
