Mr. Dempsey Lee Wynne, 71, of 8501 Graves Road, S. Chesterfield, entered eternal rest surrounded by family Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at John Randolph Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 5, 1941, in Tunica, Miss. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Addie Mae Wynne Sullivan and Freddie Lee Craig; son, Dempsey LeMont Wynne II; and brother, Adolphus Sullivan.

He attended public school in Argo-Summit, Ill. and studied special education at Virginia State University. He received a certificate from Chesterfield County Public School adult education program for training in advanced heating/air conditioning/refrigeration.

After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army, served four years and was honorably discharged.

His occupation included Brown and Williamson, 18 years, Chesterfield County Waste Water Treatment Plant, instructional aide, Dinwiddie County Public Schools, and retired from Honeywell in 2004.

He was a dedicated member of Good News Baptist Church, serving in many positions as Sunday school teacher, Good News singer, trustee board, Ronald T. Turner Memorial Men's Fellowship, visitation committee, visitation Bible school teacher and van driver.

He is survived by: devoted wife, Brenda Evans Wynne; devoted sons, DeCarlos L. Wynne (Kimberly) of Colonial Heights, and Dr. Roy L. Belfield Jr., of Delmar, Md.; loving grandchildren, DeMont L., Kaleb D. and Kailtyn D. Wynne; brothers, Arthur Sullivan (Rhondia) of Summit, Ill., Wallace Sullivan of Oak Park, Ill., Stanford Sullivan (Barbara) of Maywood, Ill.; sisters, Loretta Clark (William) of Aurora, Ill., Jeanette Alberty and Camille Sullivan, both of Spokane, Wash., and Denise Lee (Sandie) of Summit, Ill.; uncle, Bobby Sneed (Joyce) of Memphis, Tenn.; devoted sisters-in-law, Christine E. Baker of Colonial Heights, Mary H. Evans of Petersburg, and Raye E. Smith (Phillip, III) of Hampton; devoted cousins, Deacon Norman and Evelyn Cooley, Willie and Jacqueline Harris, Charles and Regina Manson; host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at The Children's Home of Virginia Baptist Inc, 6900 Hickory Road, South Chesterfield, the Rev. John W. Coleman, pastor of Good News Baptist Church, eulogist and the Rev. Marcus N. Leggett, pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.

A wake will be held Tuesday, May 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. from the Good News Baptist Church, 1920 Dupuy Road, Petersburg. Family maybe contacted at 804-590-1934.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good News Baptist Church or the Capital Improvement Association of Shiloh Baptist Church.
