Mr. Dennis D. Jackson, 62, of 9047 Sussex Drive, Stony Creek, Va., departed this life Monday, March 25, 2013, at his residence. He was born Sept. 4, 1950, in Stony Creek, Va., to Woodrow Jackson Sr., and the late Sarah Dancy Jackson. He was educated in the Sussex Public School System and was a graduate of the Sussex Central High School class of 1969. At an early age, he confessed Christ and became a member of the Galilee Baptist Church, Stony Creek.

Dennis was a former employee with Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company, and the Southampton Correctional Center. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and valued the love shared with each. Early in life, Dennis was a percussionist for a local band called Evolution. He was also noted throughout the community and Tri-City area as a professional disc jockey and was also a sought-after refrigeration and air conditioning specialist. As a hobby, he also enjoyed league bowling.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him dearly.

He leaves to cherish a legacy of precious memories: a loving wife of 33 years, Claudine Jackson of Stony Creek; a caring and supportive daughter, Denisha Jackson; two adorable granddaughters, Madison and Kennedy Carter of Baltimore, Md.; his father, Woodrow Jackson Sr. of Petersburg; three brothers, Woodrow Jackson Jr. (Janet) of Newport News, Thomas Jackson of Maryland, and James Jackson Sr. (Evelyn) of Petersburg; an aunt, Hattie Stith of Stony Creek; four nephews, Anthony Roberts, Thomas Jackson Jr., James Jackson Jr., and Amzi Jackson; one niece, Terrell Jackson (devoted); a host of great-nieces, and great-nephews, among them devoted, Sherrell Dancy; a mother-in-law, Herlene Flowers of Stony Creek; a sister-in-law, Gale Dancy (Milton) of Stony Creek, brothers-in- law, Andrew Flowers (Gloria) of Macon, Ga., Harold Flowers (Beatrice) of Stony Creek, George Flowers (Ermagean) of Dinwiddie; He also leaves a host of cousins, neighbors, and friends to treasure his legacy.

A home going service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2013, at the Galilee Baptist Church, 12392 Lee Avenue, Stony Creek, Va., with the pastor, the Rev. Dr. Linwood James, eulogizing, and the Rev. David L. Banks Sr., officiating. Burial will follow at the Dinwiddie Memorial Park. The family will assemble at the residence 12 p.m. on the day of the service. Viewing will be held today, Thursday, March 28, 2013, at the Jones-Peace Funeral Home, Stony Creek.
