Dora L. Branch of DeWitt, Va., entered into eternal rest on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007. She was born on June 7, 1912, in Virginia. She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and became a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church, Dinwiddie, where she faithfully served in the choir and the Busy Bee Ministry until her health began to decline.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Branch; a son, Joseph B. Branch and his wife, Zella Mae; three brothers, Robert Nicholas, Charles Nicholas, William Nicholas; a sister, Ella Nicholas Nobles; and a grandson, Ronald B. Branch.
She is survived by: a son, Edward C. Branch of DeWitt and Tressie Branch of Dinwiddie; a sister, Alice Nicholas Hatcher Crawley of Petersburg; and a brother, Richard Nicholas and his wife, Rebecca, of Hopewell; step-siblings, Blanche Winfield, Ann Tucker (Ernest), Sidney Gholson and Sterling Gholson, all of Dinwiddie, and Benjamin Gholson (Barbara) of Petersburg; grandchildren, Joel Branch (Kim) of Chester, Victor Branch (Michelle) of Colonial Heights, Julia Branch and Gail Drumgoole (Jerry) of DeWitt, Angela Hill of Dinwiddie, Sherry Branch and Maxine Branch of Petersburg and Karen Ellis (John) of Maryland; 16 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; lots of relatives and friends too numerous to name; and special friends, Rosa Matthews, Rozelia Dean, Beatrice Moore, William "Buck" Ellis and a devoted nurse, Yolanda Taylor.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at Mount Level Baptist Church, Dinwiddie, with the Rev. Bernard Coleman, pastor, officiating and the Rev. Kevin Northam, eulogizing. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Viewing will be until 8 tonight at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church. The family will receive relatives and friends this evening evening at the home of Tressie Branch, 16059 Flatfoot Road, Dinwiddie, (469-7391). Please omit food items.
