God in His infinite wisdom summoned our love, Ms. Doretha Ann Moore, also known as "Pee Wee", "Doe", to make the transition from life on earth to eternal rest on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Southside Regional Medical Center. Doretha was born May 28, 1955, to the late Margaret G. Moore and Percy Sykes. She was a graduate of Sussex Central High School class of 1975. Doretha was a lifetime member of Galilee Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on the Usher Board, Pastor's Aide Ministry and Missionary Ministry until her health declined. She was preceeded in death by her mother Margret Moore; and sister, Anne M. Moore.

Ms. Doretha is survived by one son, Mr. Shawn L. Moore (Carolyn), whom she loved dearly; sisters, Brenda Rowlette (George) of Brooklyn, N.Y., Jannie Massengburg, Mary Chambliss (James), Aleesha Blue (Tyrone), Margaret Johnson (Curtis), all of Stony Creek, Va.; two brothers, Kenneth Moore (Cynthia) of Stony Creek, Percy Johnson of Prince George, Va.; two grandchildren, Shaquail D. Crowder of Stony Creek, Va., Shamyaih D. Powell of Prince George, Va.; two stepgrandchildren, Denise Robinson and Lawanda Parham of Petersburg, Va.; three aunts, Sarah Atkins (Robert) of Carson, Va., Evangelist Flossie Foster, of Jacksonville, Fla., Corine Nelson (Julius) of Goose Creek, S.C.; one uncle, Edgar Lee Giles, of Long Beach, Calif.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, one devoted niece, Teresa L. Moore, a devoted friend, Haywood Massenburg, a.k.a."Nippy" of Stony Creek; two dvoted caretakers, Charlotte Tazewell and Thashima Hayes; also a special thank you to Care Advantage of Emporia, Va.

The funeral service for Ms. Doretha will be on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at 12 p.m., at the Galilee Baptist Church, Stony Creek, Va.; Dr. Linwood James Sr., pastor, officiating. Interment to follow in the Caple-Robb Family Cemetery, Stony Creek, Va. The body will be placed in church one hour prior to service. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Curtis Johnson by 11 a.m. to proceed to church.

Funeral services have been entrusted to the Jones-Peace Funeral Service, 13013 Park Ave., Stony Creek, Va. Family may be contacted by calling 434-246-3413.
