Ms. Dorothy Ann Brown Hemphill, 65, entered eternal peace on Jan. 20, 2013, at the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond.

Dorothy was born on Oct. 28, 1947, to the late Annie Bell Washington Brown and George H. Brown. She was educated in the Greensville County Public School System.
She resided in New York for most of her life. Once she relocated to Petersburg, she was the owner and operated Dorothy's Day Care. She loved taking care of children and cats.
Dorothy was preceded in death by, her husband, Isaac David Hemphill, and brothers, James Henry and David Lee Brown.
She leave to cherish her memories, three brothers, Ronnie Brown (Anna) of Carson, George Brown and Wilson Brown (Fannie), all of Petersburg; three sisters, Lelia Burrow (Elwood) of Petersburg, Louise Washington of Stony Creek and Edith Chambliss of Jarratt, Va.; devoted nieces and nephews, Ariana Michelle Parham (Deonta), Trevon Maye, all of Prince George, Dee Dee Peebles, Pernell Brown, Johnelle Nicholas, Tymaine Nicholas and J'ari Brown, all of Petersburg, and Thelma Brown of Chester; host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, among them Eunice Briggs and Carrie Kee.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at the chapel of William N. Bland & Son Funeral Home, Petersburg. The pastor, Dr. Jessie L. Ruffin of Prosperity Christian Center, Ettrick, will officiate. Interment will follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery, Petersburg.
