Douglas Warner Obituary

Douglas L. Warner, of Pittsboro Christian Village, Pittsboro, N.C., formerly of Dinwiddie County (Petersburg, Va.), went to be with the Lord Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009.

Educated in the Winsted, Conn., school system, Mr. Warner later served in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army in Korea. He was a Life Underwriter in his insurance business, Investor's Planning Service. Mr. Warner served in his church affiliation as an elder over many years and served with the Gideon's in Bible distribution.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Dancy Warner, also of Pittsboro; two children, Susan Warner Crawford and husban,d Dirk, of Huntsville, Ala., William Douglas (Buddy) Warner and wife, Laura, of Graham, N.C;. sister, Sylvia W. Cain and husband, Elwyn, of Prince Edward Island; sister-in-law and husband, Jean and Emmett Scott of Florida; and "Paw Paw" to his five devoted grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard V. Warner; mother, Leah R. Warner; and father, Richard Warner.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Pittsboro Christian Village Chapel with interment to follow in Chatham Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 1:15 to 1:50 p.m. Friday in the parlor adjacent to the Village Chapel.
