Eldor Umlang Obituary
He was the son of the late Adolf and Mary Lehmann Umlang. Mr.Umlang was a member of The Upper Room Chapel, where he was the head deacon and chairman of the board. Eldor loved his church and was active where ever he was needed.
He is survived by his wife, A. Barbara Self-Umlang; children, Sandra Plagens of Houston, Linda Greszler and husband, Dave, of Mansfield, Texas, Kenneth Umlang and wife, Beth, of Orange County, Calif., Brenda Murphy and husband, Brian, of Arlington, Texas, David Umlang and wife, Karen, of San Antonio, Bobby Self and wife, Lynn, of Midlothian, Va., Hugh Self and wife, April, of Powhatan, Va., David Self and wife, Pam, of Richmond, Va.; 20 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at The Upper Room Chapel, 7013 Dyer Lane, Richmond, VA 23225, with Pastor Mark Pauley officiating. Burial will follow in Bermuda Memorial Park Enon, Va. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.

sorry for the lost i remember when eldor and my dad and i were working at the church on weekends when it was first being built he will be missed

Its not so long ago that we lost our Mother as well and our Father before, so I know how sad you must be and I am sorry for this loss... to all of us. I am also sorry that I lost touch with my Uncle and Sponsor. Although I have not seen him for nearly a lifetime it seems, the memories I have of Elder are fond ones from the old home in Conroe, Texas. I'll not forget. Take joy in the life he lived, let it inspire, and look to the legacy he left in his children and grandchildren for the reflection of a soul surely satisfied. Take care. I'm very sad to hear of our loss of Elder. It's been a long time since i saw him last. I'm comfored to hear how strong and dedicated he was in the chuch. There is a wooden cross that sits on my mantel that he made around 30 years ago for my now late mother Betty Boes. My condolences to his family.
