On Tuesday, April 2, 2013, our heavenly father called home, his beloved son and servant, Mr. Ernest Lee Jackson, also known as "Bubba," 94, of 4203 Orchard Drive, North Dinwiddie County, Va. (formerly of 1110 Custer St., Petersburg, Va.).

Mr. Jackson was born Dec. 31, 1918, in McKenney, Va., to the late Ernest Lee Jackson Sr. and Harriett Mason Jackson. Ernest was employed as a professional carpenter and laborer for many years in the Tri-Cities area.

Ernest was preceded in death by his brother, Willie Lee Jackson; a sister, Mary L. Jackson Black; two nieces, Marie L. Wesson and June L. Jackson; and a great-nephew who was more like a son, Louis H. Wesson Jr. He was also predeceased by his longtime companion, Corrine "Baby Dee" Villines.

Ernest leaves to cherish his memory, a nephew, Richard L. Jackson (Martha) of Washington, D.C.; a niece, Patricia Wade (Brian) of Petersburg, Va.; four great-nieces who were devoted caregivers, Sharon Y. Jackson (whom he also shared a birthday with) (James Parks) and Annette Wesson, Raven N. Williams and Sonya Wesson Harvey (Robson), all of Petersburg, Va.; several great-nephews, to include Steven Wesson (Bonita) of Petersburg, Va., Kenneth Shaw of Norfolk, Va., and Michael Wesson (Carnita) of Petersburg, Va,; and a host of great-great and great-great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, among them devoted, Josephine Bland and Shirley Jones.

A special thanks to Dr. Michael Cohen, Carter Community Hospice, the staffs of Dinwiddie Health and Rehabilitation, Dr. Bagga and Southside Regional Medical Center Wound Care Center.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the Chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, Va.; the Rev. Corey Baker of Healing Hearts Ministry, Colonial Heights, Va. Interment will follow at Eastview Cemetery.
