Ethel Halsey Obituary
Left to cherish her memories are: her children, Samuel A. Halsey III (Barbara), Paul A. Halsey (Merchelle), and Gail A. McWilliams (Brian); grandchildren, Kymani Pearson-Brown, Briana & Alexander McWilliams, Kara & Justin Halsey; sisters, Barbara A. Parker (James) and Gwen P. Davis (Alfred); in-laws, Jesse W. Halsey (Geneva), Asa S. Halsey & Rosa G. McNair; devoted nephews, Oliver T. Coleman (Wanda), Larry M. Coleman (Silas), Warren V. Halsey (Lynelle) & niece, Geraldine P. Coleman; nephews, Alfred L. Davis Jr. (Sherree), Carl A. Davis (Tina), Tony L. Davis (Lori), Kenneth M. Davis (Shavonda); and nieces, Monica D. Davis, Jennifer L. Halsey, Janice M. Halsey, and Leslie P. Halsey. She is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at First Baptist Church, Bermuda Hundred, 4603 Bermuda Hundred Road, Chester. The pastor, the Rev. Michael Stith, will officiate. Interment and repast will follow at the First Baptist Church, 315 Church St., Waverly.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 5, 2010, at the chapel of William N. Bland & Son Funeral Home, Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association. Online condolences may be left at www.blandenterprisesinc.com.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the staff of William N. Bland & Son Funeral Home, Petersburg.

To Sammy,Jr., Paul, Gail, Barbara and Gwen
I extend to you my heartfelt Sympathy, Love and Prayers in the lost of your beloved mother and sister. Ethel Brown Halsey (Bettie Wee) as I called her, was my best childhood friend. We made mudcakes, ate, had sleepovers, went to school, Sunday School, joined the BYPU, sang in the youth choir and were baptized at First Baptist Church, Waverly, VA together. "Bettie Wee" was my other sister and we were friends to the end. Please know that my prayers are with you and I pray that God will give you strength to substain your lost. The Lord make His Face shine upon Thee and be gracious unto Thee. Numbers 6:25
