Floyd Lowder Obituary

Floyd Burk Lowder, 81, of Hopewell, passed away on Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, after a period of declining health.

Born in Hopewell, Va., on Sept. 16, 1927, he was the son of the late Daniel Floyd Lowder and Alma Mae Sweet.

He was a life long resident of Hopewell and a member of West End Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon.

He worked at Hercules Inc. for 38 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Gleason Lowder; brother, Richard E. Lowder; and stepson, Will Grizzard.

He is survived by his wife, Ione Grizzard Lowder; son, Daniel Burk Lowder; daughter-in-law, Cathy; daughter, Deborah Lowder Voros; son-in-law, J.P.; grandchildren, Christopher Daniel Lowder, Robert Jason Lowder, Lindsay Lowder Krieger and David Paul Voros; stepsons, Chester Grizzard and Sidney Grizzard; sister-in-law, Betty Jane Lowder; and nephews, Steve Lowder, Rick Lowder and Ted Lowder.

A memorial service will be held at West End Presbyterian Church 1600 Atlantic St. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at 2 p.m. where the family will receive friends afterwards. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Wayne Good and Pastor Kevin Collins. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: West End Presbyterian Church, 1600 Atlantic St., Hopewell, VA 23860.
