Floyd Wynn Obituary

Mr. Floyd Cane Wynn Sr., affectionately known as "Goodie," 89, of 24014 Williamson Road, Dinwiddie, entered into eternal rest after a brief illness Sunday afternoon, Jan. 10, 2010. at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg ,with his family at by his side.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alberta Clanton Wynn; and four sisters, Rebecca Jones, Justine Peyton, Gertrude Tucker and Catherine Whitmore. Floyd was a lifelong native of Dinwiddie County, and was born June 22, 1920, to the late Charlie and Rodell Branch Wynn.

He was a member of Gravel Run Baptist Church, Dinwiddie, and was self-employed most of his adult life. Mr. Wynn was a devoted family man who enjoyed gardening, fishing and flea markets.

He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Hazel Parham (Wilson) of Petersburg and Edna Noggin of Dinwiddie; eight sons, Raymond, Lawrence, Waverly, Broadus (Mary), Theodore, Lloyd (Diane), Floyd Jr. (Shirley) and Charles (Linda), all of Dinwiddie; one sister, Willie Meaner of Dinwiddie; one former daughter-in-law, Lue Ella Wynn of Ocala, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Eunice Parham (Jesse) of Stony Creek; two brothers-in-law, Roger Clanton of Carson and Walter Clanton of Bronx, N.Y.; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a devoted friend and caregiver, Bernice Tucker; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at the Chapel of William N. Bland and Son Funeral Home, Petersburg, with the Rev. John A. Wynn, pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Richmond, officiating. The interment will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Dinwiddie. Friends are asked to join the family from 6 to 8 Thursday evening for the wake service. The family will assemble at the residence, 23607 Williamson Road, one hour before the service.
