Mr. Floyd H. Vaughan, 74, of 426 Shore St., Petersburg, entered into eternal rest Thursday, March 26, 2014, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg.

He was born in Prince George, to the late Essex and Nannie Vaughan on April 9, 1939. He was preceded in death by: two sisters, Viola V. Williams and Lula B. Harris; and three brothers, Antonia Vaughan, Levi Vaughan, and Junious Vaughan.
He retired from Virginia State University in 1991 after 33 years of service.
He leaves to cherish his memory: one daughter, Bernadette Howard; one son, Soloman Hyman; four grandchildren, Shequita Howard, Shaquan Varnum, Shequial Varnum. He also one devoted niece, Hazel "Pennie" Williams and two devoted nephews, James "Poo-Poo" Vaughan and Harold Lee Lewis; a devoted great-niece, Sharon Parham; two great nephews, Mario Vaughan and James A. Vaughan; close buddies, Preston Payton, Mark Chambliss, Leroy Jones, James Bonner and Louis Avery and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives; and friends.
Services for Mr. Floyd H. Vaughan will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at the chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg. Interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at 1306 Montgomery Ave., Petersburg.
