Frances Elizabeth Caple Carmichael, fondly known as Nen, of Stony Creek, Va., departed this life Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, after fearlessly fighting a lengthy illness. Frances was the daughter of Charlie Caple Sr. and Nancy Richardson Caple and step-daughter of Gracie W. Caple, and the wife of Matthew J. Carmichael, all preceding her in death.

She was the faithful mother of her six children: Daniel, Parthenia, and Gloria, all of Baltimore, Md., Joan and Rochelle of Richmond, Va., and Darnette of Stony Creek, Va. She leaves to cherish her many memories, her siblings: Hester Wyche, Dorothy Dillard, Charlie Caple Jr. (Maggie), the Rev. Joe Henry Caple (Gracie), Dennis Caple, and John C. Caple, all of Stony Creek, Mildred Peters of Philadelphia, Pa., Royal P. Caple of Silver Spring, Md., Jane Caple of Colonial Heights, Va., Marie Bonner of Washington, D.C., and Mary E. Brown of Seat Pleasant, Md. She doted over her nine grandchildren: Lamont, Dawn (Calvin), Tory (Rowena), Brian, Patrick, and Caelon, all of Baltimore, Md., Troy and Kendall of Richmond, Va., and Arnette of Stony Creek, Va.; and 13 beautiful great-grandchildren: Shawn, Ian, Candace, Tariq, L'Chaun, Avery, Kristen, Alayah, Xavier, Jasmine, Jaiden, Ceniya, and Tanaja. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, close family friends, and church families are also left with the many beautiful memories that they've shared over the countless years. With special thanks to Dr. Kondragunta and staff at her hematology oncology office and Hospice of Virginia for their tremendous care provided by Beth and Juanita.
