Francis Bailey Obituary

Mr. Francis Bailey, 84, of 5505 Takach Road, Prince George, departed this life on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at his residence.

He was born in Charleston, S.C., to the late Abraham and Rebecca Bailey on Oct. 31, 1926, and was the seventh of 10 brothers and sisters. He attended Charleston Public Schools.

Francis was a retired Merchant seaman and served as a cook. After leaving Charleston, S.C., in 1948, he reconnected with his future wife Annabelle Alston whom he married in 1949 and she preceded him in death in 2002. From this union, they had four children; Barbara, Phyllis (deceased), Francine and Frank. Francis was a devoted member of Allen A.M.E. Church in St. Albans, NY.

In January 2005, Francis married Mandy Dancy in Brooklyn, N.Y. In 2006, they moved to Prince George, where they made their home.

Francis is survived by his devoted wife, Mandy; daughters, Barbara Glover and her husband Ernest of Jamaica, N.Y., and Francine Pearsall of Jamaica, N.Y.; his son, Frank and his wife Marie of Rosedale, N.Y.

He leaves his beloved sisters, Mary Taylor of Charleston, S.C., Catherine Washington of Charleston, S.C., and Mildred Gibbs of Charleston S.C. Remembering him with abiding affection is Daryl Dancy of Allentown, Pa., Hildria Dancy of Ozone Park, N.Y., Eli Dancy of Bayonne N.J., Heather Charity of Prince George, Va., and Joseph Dancy of Prince George, Va.; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grands, two great-great-grands, several nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends mourn his departure from this earthly life.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at the Chapel of Turner-Bland Funeral Home, Hopewell. The Rev. William N. Bland Jr., pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church, Petersburg, will officiate. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday evening at the Chapel of Turner-Bland Funeral Home. The family is asked to assemble at the residence on the day of the service at 11 a.m.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the staff of Turner-Bland Funeral Home, Hopewell. The Rev. William N. Bland Jr., funeral director. Condolences may be sent to www.blandenterprisesinc.com.
