Franklin Henshaw Obituary

Franklin Delano Henshaw, age 77, of Petersburg, Va., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010.

He was born in Dinwiddie County, Va., the son of the late John Lee and Gertrude Maile Henshaw. Mr. Henshaw was also preceded in death by his siblings, Calvin L. Henshaw, Dorothy M. Henshaw Vaughan, Dahlia E. Henshaw Collins and John L. Henshaw Jr. He was a painting contractor in the Tri-City area for over 40 years, and a member of the Home Builders Association. He was a member of West End Baptist Church for 53 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Roselyn Harvanek Henshaw; his children, Franklin Henshaw Jr., and Karen Henshaw-Hatter and husband, Frank; randchildren, LeAndra Nicole Crump and Ryan Frank Hatter; siblings, Glenn Howard Henshaw, Robert C. Henshaw (Pam), Elinor G. Jones (Gilbert) and Alice Louise Putney; a sister-in-law, Hazel L. Henshaw; a devoted nephew, Glenn H. Henshaw; close sisters and brothers-in-law, Elsie H. Harrison, Margaret H. Belcher, Adella Swimelar, Mildred H. Mulder (Huss), Edith Daulton (Vernon), Jules Harvanek (Barbara), Edward J. Harvanek, Raymond H. Harvanek (Darlene) and Alvin L. Harvanek (Jean); numerous favorite nieces and nephews; and special neighbors and close friends, Vickie and Bucky Costley, and Audrey Elwell.

The family will receive friends at the Petersburg chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010. Funeral services will take place at West End Baptist Church at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the West End Baptist Church at 6506 Boydton Plank Road, Petersburg, VA 23803. Roselyn, My heart goes out to you in the loss of your husband. You may not remember me but you and I both attended Waverly Hi together at least 60 yrs ago. My spouse passed away 15 yrs. ago so I have an idea of your feelings at this time.
