Gail Simpson Obituary

Gail Jordan Simpson, 39, drew her last breath on Nov. 12, 2009, at Presbyterian Hospital, Hospice & Palliative Care in Charlotte, N.C. After nine months of strong determination, she finally succumbed to the overwhelming power of pancreatic cancer.

She was born in Keene, N.H., on June 27, 1946. After moving with her family to Charlotte, N.C., she graduated from East Mecklenburg High School and resided in Charlotte for two decades until relocating to Brunswick County, Va.

Gail is survived by her husband of 29 years, Defoy C. Simpson; her daughter, Heidi and husband, Jay McGinn; stepsons, Bobby Simpson and wife, Monica, and Rodney Simpson and wife, Amanda. Mrs. Simpson adored her grandchildren, Patrick and Ryan McGinn, Nick, Emily, Hillary, Rebekah and Jeremy Simpson. She is also survived by her mother, "Lindy" Jordan, widow of the late "Red" Jordan, as well as her siblings, Erik (Missy) Jordan, Diane Jordan Cline, Mike (Dena) Jordan and Steve (Evan) Jordan. The lasting impressions she made on her nieces, nephews and great-nephews will never be replaced: Carla, Matt, Celena, Dane, Ciji, Ivy, Will, Chase, Paige, Garrett, Korvin and Jake.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Gail's name may be made for pancreatic cancer research in care of Hirshberg Foundation, 2990 S. Sepulveda Blvd., Suite 300 C, Los Angeles, CA 90064 and/or to Animal Hospital of Emporia, 715 N. Main St., Emporia, VA 23847.

I did not know Gail personally but I also lost someone with the same firstname of Gail (Gail Stillings Fisher), who was Monica Simpson's mother and my first double cousin who was more like a sister to me. She too passed to the Other Side due to cancer. But know that she is with family and friends on the Other Side. This side is a temporary place full of suffering so she is truly in a wonderful place with Jesus.
I believe that after orientation on the Other Side that there is meaningful work to done by each of us...no listening to harps on Cloud 9. I know you will miss her but be comforted in knowing she still lives an eternal existence that we can only imagine. "To be Absent from the body is to be Present with the Lord!"
My prayers are with you.
