George Charles Sweeney, 60, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013.

Born in Petersburg, he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Ida Kay Spinner Sweeney. He was a retired pipefitter for Honeywell, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #882 and Masonic Lodge #15.
He is survived by his wife, Kalan Sweeney; siblings, Agnes Vanvranken and husband, Don, of New York, Arlene Thomas and husband, Brent, of Pennsylvania, Jeff Sweeney of Colonial Heights, Susan Towsley and husband, Greg, of Indiana, and Charlene Suter of Sutherland; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Rev. Mike Moore officiating. Interment private. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
