Mr. Gery Lewis Faison Sr., affectionately known as "Big G." departed this life suddenly on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at his residence.

He was born July 29, 1971, to Ervin Woody and Eva Mae Faison in Ahoskie, N.C. He attended Paterson, N.J., Public Schools. He was employed by Delhaize Food Lion Distribution, Disputanta, Va., and attended Mount Olive Baptist Church, Petersburg, Va.

Gery was known to everyone as a very caring, easy going, charismatic and loving soul. Gery would do anything for others and genuinely cared about everyone around him. Everyone that knew Gery knew of his love for his family, his truck, his dreads and his renewed love for the Lord.

He leaves to cherish his many memories a wife of 21 years, Zelda Mays Faison; son, Gery Faison Jr.; daughter, Zandra Faison, of the home; brothers, Randy Faison of North Carolina and Charles (Theresa) Faison of Virginia; sister, Carol Faison of Maryland; mother-in-law, Shirley Mays; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, amongt the close friends, Fred Gibson, Anton Moore, (Twins), Marcus and Martin Baird, and a special niece, Bertriece Nash, whom affectionately called him "Big Poppa."

A celebration of life will be conducted at noon on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, Tabernacle Baptist Church, 418 Halifax St., Petersburg, Va., with Minister Wesley Nicholas officiating. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the residence at 11 a.m. the day of the service. Arrangements being handled by Tucker Funeral Services and Cremation, 415 Halifax St, Petersburg, Va.
