On Thursday, July 4, 2013, our hearts were deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved, Mr. Gilbert Lee Parham, "Gilbert Lee", of 500 Farmer St., Apt. 514, Gillhaven Manor.

He was born to the late Obedience Friend Parham ("Baby Sis") and Norman Parham on Dec. 9, 1943, in Petersburg, Va. Gilbert was a master chef and former employee of the International House, Powermate (Hackensack, N.J.), Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company (Petersburg, Va.), Phillip Morris, Betsy's Courtyard, and Abba's Table. He was an expert in the field of cooking. It was his heart's delight to serve you, whether it was at home, on the job, or in a restaurant.

Gilbert was a faithful and dedicated member of the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God In Christ. He served his church in the following ministries: Kitchen Ministry, Usher Board, Brotherhood Ministry and Pastoral Care Ministry. He was also a member of the Golden Boys and Girls Club, and served wherever he was needed.

His favorite pastimes were cooking, of course; watching 'his wrestling'; listening to his Gospels on the radio; and 'dressing to the mack.'

Gilbert leaves to cherish his memories: four devoted sisters, Mozelle P. Edmonds and Rosa 'Nita' Jackson, both of Petersburg, Va., Mrs. Mildred Dodson of Hackensack, N.J., and Mrs. Brenda Parham Gibbons (Roy) of Teaneck, N.J.; one brother, Mr. Roy Parham of Paramus, N.J.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Annie Parham of Chesterfield, Va.; two brothers-in-law, Mr. Leon Blunt of Newark, N.J., and Larry Dodson of Petersburg, Va.; a host of nieces, two devoted, Ronda L. Edmonds of Petersburg, Va., and Mrs. Tara Parham Power of Teaneck, N.J.; nephews; great-nieces; great-great-nieces; great-nephews; great-great-nephews; several cousins; other relatives and friends, to include, Percy Ruffin, Toney Waters, Lloyd McDonald Banks, Edmonia Gilliam, Frances Wilson, Catherine 'Cat' Brackett, Lawrence Johnson, Ernestine Burnett, Juanice Orr, Moncita Wilkins, Betty Reid, Dorothy Hazelwood Putney, Loris Harris, Diane Simmons, Laverne Bragg, Nazarene Jones, Jean Sykes, Mercy Cook, Shirley Jones, Mildred Young, Clementine Anderson, Gillhaven Bingo players, the entire staff and all of the residents of Gillhaven Manor.
