Gloria Roper Obituary
She was a lifelong resident of Colonial Heights and Petersburg. She graduated from Petersburg High School and attended James Madison University in the 1950s when the university was still a small college. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Petersburg, Va., for over 75 years. Ann was a former member of the Colonial Heights Federated Women's Club and a dedicated worker for the Petersburg Cosmopolitan Club Diabetic Center.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Willson Bartlett Roper Jr.; daughters, Lee D.W. Whelan of Virginia, Margaret A. Roper Upchurch and husband Cody of Texas; a son, Willson Bartlett Roper III and wife Deborah of Maine; grandchildren, Cody Lee Upchurch Jr., Mia Roper Upchurch and Conner Lee Upchurch of Texas.
There will be a graveside service at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, Va., on Wednesday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bruce Bevans officiating. The family would like to thank the dedicated and caring staff of Golden Living Center and Asera-Care Hospice. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
