Mr. Grover Thomas Brown departed this life on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the Colonial Heights Healthcare Center. He was born on November 15, 1932 to Mrs. Mabel Brown of Chesterfield, VA. Mr. Brown was predeceased by his step-father, Samuel Bert Finney; his mother; Mabel Brown Finney; wife, Gracie Lee Montague Brown, one step-daughter, Deborah Montague and several aunts and uncles.

Mr. Brown served in the United States Army for three years. He was a dedicated worker for fifty years at Bellwood Defense Supply Center. During that time, he received numerous awards and citations for his work; his attendance and his "always willing to help" attitude in any situation. He was recognized several times for accumulating 1,000 plus hours of sick leave.

Mr. Brown was a faithful and dedicated member of Gillfield Baptist Church of Petersburg, VA until his health declined. He served faithfully on the Trustee Ministry for forty plus years.

Mr. Brown is survived by two step-daughters,Cynthia Montague and Virginia Lee Nelson; three step-sons, Eric, John and Michael Montague; several cousins to include: Shirley Brown, William Brown and James Evans, Jr. who were his caregivers when needed.

Mr. Brown was always willing to help family with any situation. He was a proud individual and he loved to dress in fine suits and shoes. He could recall any family situation that happened years ago if anyone asked him. He was the family historian and he will truly be missed. "REST IN PEACE."

Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Gillfield Baptist Church, 209 Perry Street, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Dr. George W. C. Lyons, Jr., Pastor, eulogist. Interment will be private.

The family will assemble 1:00 P.M. the day of the service and will receive friends at 318 St. Matthews Street, Petersburg.
