Mr. James Anthony Jones, "P Funk," of 913 Priam St., Petersburg, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg. James was the son of the late John Mack Jones and Virginia Louise McCray Jones of Petersburg.

He was educated in the Petersburg public school system and was employed by Seward Luggage Company, Petersburg.

"P Funk," as he was affectionately called, loved playing music, drawing and painting.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Prince Jones.

Left to cherish memories of James are: three sisters, Dorothy Lancaster of Petersburg, Shirley Trent of Chesterfield, and Rosemary Montgomery of Florida; two devoted nieces, Mary Hicks and Zenia Trent.

"P Funk" had many devoted cousins: John Alexander Jr., Robert Banks Jr., Johnnie Banks, Ronnie Banks, Margaret Banks, Evelyn Banks, Louise Huston, Mary and Derrick, Brenda and Paul Montcastle, Bobby Banks, Tarisha Banks, Preston, Christopher Alexander and Randolph Alexander; of the many friends, five devoted: Don Griffin, William Whaley, Jennifer Greene, Wayne Coats, Patrick; and the young school.

Funeral services for Mr. James A. Jones will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013, 11 a.m. at the Chapel of J. L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, Evangelist Nehemiah Malachi, officiating.

A public viewing will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
