James Robinson Obituary

Trustee James "Jack" Robinson Jr., 70, of 609 W. Main St., Waverly, Va., departed this life on Nov. 20, 2010, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va.

To most he was known as "Jack Robinson." Jack was born on Sept. 14, 1940, to the late James Robinson Sr. and Essie Turner in Sussex County. He attended Sussex County Schools and ended his career as a retired supervisor for International Paper in Waverly, Va. Jack was a private contractor. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Waverly, Va., where he has served as a trustee. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary T. White, Roxanne Fraiser and Mary T. Jones.

Left to treasure his memory, devoted ex-wife, Mrs Jean Robinson of Waverly, Va.; one son, Marvin James Robinson Sr. (Keyonna) of Prince George, Va.; two grandchildren, Marvin James Robinson Jr. and Brooklyn Sierra Robinson; three sisters, Cora Rucker-Davis (Edmund) of New York City, N.Y., Alice L. Taylor and Annie Mae Turner, both of Waverly, Va.; brother-in-law, Warren Flowers (Wilma) of Waverly, Va.; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Small of New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends, Ms. V. Thomas, Titus Felts, Johnny Wiggins and Gerald Harris.

A funeral service for Mr. James "Jack" Robinson Jr. will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at First Baptist Church, 217 S. County Drive, Wakefield, Va., Pastor Jerry Parham officiating. Interment will be in the Waverly Cemetery, Waverly Va. The remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the homegoing service. The viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home Inc., 405 Johnson Ave., Suffolk, Va. The family is asking that relatives and friends assemble at the residence of Mrs. Jean Robinson, 429 Elm St. Waverly, Va., at noon on Saturday. The Rev. J.L. Dodson Sr., funeral director.
