Mr. James Stanley "Pops" Brinkley, 68, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and veteran was born on May 6, 1946, in Radford. James passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, in his Matoaca home with his wife and family by his side.

In 1967, James enlisted into the United States Marine Corps, where he was stationed in Parris Island, S.C. He kept busy in life with his soy candle business. James would spend hours, night after night making, labeling, sorting, packaging candles. He was also a proud high ranking member of the local Colonial Heights Moose Lodge.
James is survived by: his wife, Barbara Brinkley; his children, Melissa Herman, Terry and Buddy Moles, Sherry Morris, Haley Clark, Michelle Cook, and Debbie Langwell; sister, Nancy Brinkley; sons-in-law, Robbie Herman, Rick Cook, Bobby Billings and Bobby Groover (and their families); two sisters-in-law, Lori Hon and Judi Milanovich; one brother-in-law, Milan Milanovich; niece, Jennifer Whaley; and a host of other relatives; and friends.
Service of love and remembrance for Mr. James S. Brinkley will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Colonial Heights Moose Lodge, 170 Moose Avenue, Colonial Heights.
