Janice Shelton Obituary

Janice Marek Shelton, age 65, of Chester, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 3, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She is survived by her three children, Jennifer Moore and husband, Glenn, of Dinwiddie, Va., John Shelton Jr. and wife, Mary Beth, of Henrico, Va., and Joey Shelton of Chesterfield, Va.; three grandchildren, Nicole Fenner and husband, T.J., of Midlothian, Va., and Sarah and Julia Shelton of Henrico. She also leaves behind three very dear friends, Carol Moore of Chester, and Terry and Emily Dillard of Enon, Va.

Ms. Shelton was a devoted mother, a great friend and a strong lady. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Ms. Shelton retired from Chesterfield County Treasurer's Office in 2005 after 19 years of service.

The family will receive friends at the Chesterfield chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7, in the Matoaca Baptist Church, Matoaca, Va. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Virginia at 7231 Forest Ave., Suite 100, Richmond, VA 23226. Condolences to the family may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
