On Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, Mr. Javonta Crenshaw transitioned from earth to heaven. He was born on April 30, 1994, to mother, Tyree Crenshaw, and father, Lamont Evans. Javonta was baptized at Tabernacle Baptist Church at an early age. He received his education from the Petersburg Public School System.

He was preceded in death by: his great-grandmother, Ernestine B. Crenshaw; and his embraced grandmother, Arnita D. Tucker.
Javonta was known as "Bert Bert" to everyone, a nickname given by his family. He loved to make people laugh and smile. When meeting people, he always left a lasting impression. Those that knew him loved him, and likewise. Javonta touched the hearts of many, whether young or old. He was a father, son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend to all. He will truly be missed.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a beautiful one-year-old daughter, Ariyaunna Harris; siblings, J'ari Brown, Jamonta Crenshaw, and Derrick and Tyreisha Johnson, all of Petersburg; maternal grandparents, Vanessa Rives(Reebok); paternal grandparents, Henry Evans (Martha).
He also leaves to cherish his memories: aunts, Tyris Akins, Nakita Barnes, Daketa and Chimere Crenshaw, Melissa Goode; his maternal aunt, Sharon Johnson, all of Petersburg; uncles, Antonio "Buck" and Tavares "Pimp" Crenshaw of Petersburg, Mitchell Evans (Sheila) of Dinwiddie, and Ray Goode of Petersburg; great-aunt, Doris Summers, and great-uncle, Charles Goode, both of Petersburg; cousins, Jada N. Akins, Randy Aubrey, Shakia Barnes, Joshua Clarke, Traveres Crenshaw, K'von Evans, Derrain (Brittney) and Terrain Goode, Antonio Jr., Armanee, Davonta, Kajuan, and LaKenya Hawkins, Jakori and Janae Malone, and Damil and Makyh Reid, all of Petersburg, and a host of other cousins; friends; and two special devoted friends, Lateshia "Pot" Harris and Derrick Tucker, both of Petersburg.
Services for Mr. Javonte "Bert" Crenshaw will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 418 Halifax St., Petersburg, the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Diggs Sr., pastor, eulogist. Interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. Crenshaw's grandmothers, Ms. Vanessa Rives, 2130 Ferndale Ave., Petersburg, and Mrs. Martha Evans, 1052 Southpark Drive, Petersburg.
