Mr. Jerome Edward Mountcastle, 58, of Martinsburg, W.Va., departed this life with God's love and entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, Ja. 23, 2013. He was the son of the late Mrs. Reba Atkins and stepson of the late Wyatt Atkins.

He attended Matoaca High School. He was formerly employed with the Battlefield Park Convalescent Home, Virginia State University and Master Chevrolet Motor Co.
He served his country in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged.
Jerome received Christ at an early age at the Gilfield Baptist Church in Petersburg, Va. He later joined the St. John Baptist Church, Stony Creek, Va., after returning home from Middletown, Conn., where he lived for 20 years.
He was predeceased by his loving mother, stepfather, sister, Patricia A. Thomas, and nephew, Jerome J. McBride Thomas.
Jerome leaves to cherish his memories, three children, Germaine Campbell, Elizabeth Campbell and Jerome Edward Mountcastle Jr.; four grandsons; five sisters, Jemal Battle, Brenda Mountcastle and Cynthia Moore, all of Petersburg, Debra McAllister (Bernard) of Chesterfield and Judy Wilder (Scott) of Milkaukee; one brother-in-law, Elton Thomas; two nieces, Shonda Mountcastle, Sharde' Gannoway; six nephews, Rodney Mountcastle, Aldgen Mountcastle, Kenny Thomas, Dominic and Dimitri Wilder and Antoine King; four uncles, Frank Dyson, Flector Dyson, the Rev. Joseph Dyson, Herbert Dyson (Lynn); three aunts, Vivian, Vera, Margaret Dyson and Maxine Walker; and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends, to include Rose Steward (Aunt Mom).
A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at the St. John Baptist Church, Stony Creek, with the pastor, the Rev. Herbert R. Holley, officiating, and the Rev. Linda Skipper eulogizing. A private burial will be held at a later date. Viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
