John Petik Obituary

John Petik Sr., 95, of Prince George County, Va., died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, in Hopewell Healthcare Center.

Mr. Petik was born in Hopewell and had been a lifelong resident of this area. He was a charter member of the Prince George Volunteer Fire Department, a former member of the Prince George Ruritan Club, a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, a retired supervisor at Fort Lee, Va., and a retired farmer. Mr. Petik was the son of the late Andrew and Mary Liptak Petik.

He is survived by his wife, Mary P. Petik, two sons, John Petik Jr., Andrew M. Petik and wife, Kathy, all of Prince George County, Va.; three grandchildren, CW3 Daniel Petik and wife, Wendy, of Fort Benning, Ga., 1st Lt. David Petik, stationed in Iraq, WO1 Dustin Petik of Fort Rucker, Ala.; a brother, George A. Petik and his wife, Eleanor, of Wilmington, Del.; many nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law.

A devotional service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, in Nazareth Lutheran Church with Pastor David Voss officiating. Interment will be in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Va. Memorial contributions may be made to Nazareth Lutheran Church, 1711 Grant St., Hopewell, VA 23860, or Prince George Emergency Crew, P.O. Box 308, Prince George, VA 23875. Condolences may be registered with www.jtmorriss.com.
