Mr. Joseph A. Green, Jr. departed this life on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, Va. He was born on November 6, 1942. He was the youngest of nine children born to the late Joseph A. Green, Sr. and Mamie L. Harris Green of Louisa, Va.

He joined Laurel Hill Baptist Church, Louisa, Va., at an early age. Later he became a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Spotsylvania, Va. One of his favorite gospel song was, "Take Me to The Water."
Five of his siblings preceded him in death two sisters, Dorothy Harrison and Catherine Minor; and three brothers, Haywood Green, Henry Green and James Green.
Joseph leaves to cherish his memory three sisters, Lena Minor of Spotsylvania, Va., Lucy Whiters of Philadelphia, Pa., and Ruth Minor of Washington, DC; two sisters-in-law, Marion Green of Spotsylvania, Va., and Rosa Green of Louisa, Va.; one brother-in-law, Russell Minor of Spotsylvania, Va.; a devoted niece, JoAnn Minor-Hill; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. He also leaves to mourn many other loving relatives and friends.
Services for Mr. Joseph A. Green, Jr. will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017, at the Chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA., the Rev. Herbert Holly II, Pastor of St. John Baptist Church, Stony Creek, Va., eulogist. Interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
