LeShaunda Beasley Obituary

Ms. LeShaunda Renee Beasley went on home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at VCU/MCV Medical Center, Richmond, Va.

She was a native of Dinwiddie County, Va., born July 7, 1980, and a graduate of Dinwiddie High School, Class of 1999. LeShaunda was a certified nursing assistant until her declining health.

She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Dinwiddie County, Va., where the Rev. Dr. Herbert W. Anderson serves as pastor. She truly loved the Lord and her pastor and first lady. LeShaunda was an inspiration to many through her amazing singing voice. She was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church Choir, the Sharon Baptist Church New Birth Choir, the Voices of Love Dinwiddie High School Choir, the Olive Branch Young Adult Choir and the Olive Branch Volunteer Choir.

LeShaunda was a family person and an outgoing person who was loved by many. She befriended many and inspired many along her journey. She loved children and was devoted to all of her nieces and nephews.

She was a determined fighter until the end and her favorite saying was "I'm A Trooper."

LeShaunda was preceded in death by her mother, Julia Ann Beasley; grandmothers, Pearl A. Lewis and Bertha Blackwell Smith; grandfathers, Will Lewis Sr. and Charles Smith; uncles, Will Lewis Jr., Jimmy Nicholas and Wayne Smith; and aunt, Laura Smith.

She is survived by her father, Sherman Smith; her devoted stepfather, Herbert Beasley Sr. (Yvonne). She is also survived by her brother, Herbert BeasleyJr.; sisters, Gloria Harris, Tracey Parham (Calvin), Sandra Beasley, all of Dinwiddie County, Va., Pearl Clanton (Bruce) of Suffolk, Va., Latricia Smith and Latasha Smith, both of Richmond, Va.; stepsister, Chakona Dean of Petersburg, Va.; aunts, Merrilla Perry (William), Mary Lee, Mary Lucy Martin, Maj. Charlotte Hazelwood, Tammy Robinson, Kathy Smith and Terri Jones; godmother, Audrey Finney of Macon, Ga.; uncle, Richard Lewis (Flossie); great-aunts, Irene Johnson, Marion Smith, Sarah Carter, Thelma Blackwell, Mary Blackwell, Lula Clarke (James) and Martha Cousins, Lillian Crawley and Jean Perkins; great-uncles, devoted Jessie Blackwell, Howard Blackwell (Lucille), Roosevelt Smith, Lawrence Smith, Lewis Smith, Andrew Smith, Thomas Smith and Henry Smith; stepaunts, Margaret Jones, Theresa Bonner, Ella, Gladys and Norma Beasley; stepuncles, Charles, Milton, John, Ricky and Billy Beasley; devoted and dedicated cousins, Wanda Belfield (Charles) and Joan Morgan; devoted and dedicated friends, DiKita Walker Kisha Blackwell, LeKita and Yolanda Bowden, Tiffany Parham, Sophia Harper and Yolanda Spencer; goddaughter, Zykia Walker; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at Sharon Baptist Church, 26804 Fort Emory Road, Petersburg, Va., the Rev. Dr. Herbert W. Anderson, officiating. Interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at 24018 Bancroft Drive, Petersburg, Va., and may be contacted by calling (804) 862-2223.
