Lorraine Burrow Obituary

Lorraine G. Burrow, 88, formerly of Stony Creek, Va., died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center, Emporia, Va.

She was born Sept. 11, 1922, to the late Annie Tyler and adopted by the late Kizzie Griffin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy; two sons, Robert Lee and Joe Thomas Burrow; two brothers, Jacob Rose and John Griffin.

Lorraine was educated in the Sussex County Public School System. At an early age, she joined the First Baptist Church, Jarratt, Va. She loved to sing and was a member of the Stony Creek Gospel Chorus and also a member of the Order of Tent #1.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two granddaughters, Linda D. Burrow of Colonial Heights, Va., and Glenda Jackson of Richmond, Va.; one grandson, Robert T. Burrow (Nancy) of Clarksville, Tenn.; two daughters-in-law, Eunice P. Burrow of Richmond, Va., and Elsie M. Burrow of Colonial Heights, Va.; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three nieces, Dorothy Davis (Michael), Francis Smith and the Rev. Phyllis Washington (Rudolph); two nephews, Earl Griffin (Jackie) and John Griffin; two sisters-in-law, Kizzie Griffin and Ann Rose Taylor; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service for Ms. Burrow will be conducted at noon Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at First Baptist Church, 18463 Little Mill Road, Jarratt, Va.; the Rev. George R. Mayes, pastor, and the Rev. Joe H. Caple, pastor of Hickory Hill Baptist Church, Yale, Va., eulogizing. Interment will follow immediately in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the staff of Jones-Peace Funeral Service, 13013 Park Ave., Stony Creek, Va., (434) 246-3171. The family is being asked to assemble at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on day of service and family may be contacted by calling (804) 524-9463.
