Mrs. Lorraine Washington Johnson, 81, of 4207 Esposito Place, Prince George, entered into eternal rest peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, March 16, 2013, at her residence.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James White and Carrie Belle Washington; stepfather, Randolph Washington; sister, Helen Whiting, and brothers, James Thomas and Clarence Holloway.

She was a high school graduate of the New York Public School System. She served as a dietary specialist for the Hopewell Convalescent Center.

Lorraine was First Mother of Antioch Christian Center Church, counselor, mentor of food preparation, one of the founding members of the Praise Center Mission and president of Hospitality.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving and devoted husband, James J. Johnson; sons, Paul Herman, Reginald Herman (Cynthia), James Herman (Ruth), Marvin Johnson (Angela); daughters, Dr. Brenda C. Kelly (Bishop Jerry M.), Benita Townsend (Tony), Yolanda Jones (Eddie), and stepdaughter, Joann Seale (Eric); sister, Susie Mae Gatewood; brother-in-law, Clayton Whiting; sisters-in-law, Lilly Mae Hollaway and Margaret Brown (Ramie); aunts, Edith James, Sharon Nelson (Renard) and Lena Anderson; host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; amongst the devoted nieces and nephews are Randy Whiting, Russell Whiting and Rhonda Bond; 21 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, March 23, 2013, at The Antioch Christian Center Church, 325 E. Belt Blvd. Richmond; Bishop Jerry Kelly, eulogist. The interment will follow in the Appomattox Cemetery, Hopewell.

Family and friends are asked to assemble at the residence 9:30 a.m. on the day of service. A public viewing will be held 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at the chapel of William N. Bland & Son Funeral Home, Petersburg.
