Lucy A. Noggins

Lucy Ann Noggins, 72, of 404 S. Park Drive, Petersburg, Va., passed away quietly Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Southside Regional Medical Center after a long illness.

She was born May 29, 1937, in Dinwiddie County, Va., to the late John and Viney Noggin. She grew up in Dinwiddie County with her nine siblings and attending Dinwiddie Public Schools.

She was preceded in death by a son, Randy Noggins.

She was baptized at an early age and was a member of Gravel Run Baptist Church, Dinwiddie County. Although she was a native of Dinwiddie County, she lived and worked in Petersburg for years until she retired due to health problems.

Lucy is survived by two sons, Larry Noggin (Ellen) and Melvin Winfield; four daughters, Phyllis Parham, Gail Perry, Vickie Ampy (Joe) and Sandy Noggins; two sisters, Lillie Jones and Virgie Clanton; two brothers, Roger Noggin and John Noggin (Buck); a host of grandchildren; among them devoted Brandon Washington; a host of great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Gravel Run Baptist Church, Dinwiddie with Dr. Larry Brown Sr. officiating. The eulogy will be given by Rev. Maxcine Winfield. Interment will be in Dinwiddie Memorial Park. The remains will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 11:45 a.m. until the hour of service. Relatives and friends will assemble at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Joe Ampy, 27004 Greenhead Dr., Petersburg, Dinwiddie County (Duck Creek Subdivision) at noon.
