Marqueis Burgess Obituary
Marqueis was born on March 28, 1988, in Mount Vernon, N.Y., to his beloved parents, Walteria Lea Burgess and Hector Josephs. Hector Josephs preceded Marqueis in death. Marqueis graduated from Meadowbrook High School in June 2006. While attending Meadowbrook High School, Marqueis played on the Junior and Varsity basketball teams. Afterwards, he attended Virginia State University for two years. For the past two years, Marqueis has been employed at Macy's, located in the Regency Mall in Richmond.
Besides his mother, Walteria Lea Burgess, those left to cherish his precious memories are his sister and best friend, Marquail Tiesha McBride and fiancé, April Martin; stepson, Camden Martin; his devoted grandparents, Walter and Frances Burgess in Richmond, Va., Carmen Mothersill in Philadelphia and Peter Josephs in Spring, Texas; great-grandmother, Alberta Warner in Greensboro, Md.; uncles, Walter Burgess in Richmond, Va., Mark Josephs in Mount Vernon, N.Y., Courtney Josephs in Philadelphia and Howard Josephs in Milwaukee; his aunts, Melody Boyd in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., Donna Josephs in Mount Vernon, N.Y., Julie McEwan in Philadelphia and Paula Josephs in Milwaukee; and a host of other relatives and devoted friends.
His funeral service will be held noon on Wednesday at the Harvest International Full Baptist Center, 1017 W. Washington St., Petersburg, Va. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the church. Interment to follow in the Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery, Petersburg, Va.

R.I.P.....I went to school with him when he was at Bird and he was one those guys who cheered u up when u were down and just a cool guy you could joke with...I send my condolences to his family/friends....I know he is in a better place now

To my precious nephew Marqueis you will be greatly missed but never forgotten. It will be extremely difficult as time goes by and I cannot call you or just expect your visits. I know that you are in heaven watching over your family with your dad, Hector. I remember the good times we shared when I first met you in MBK. Remember when I gave you a ride home and I asked you which house do you live in and you said "The one with all the cars in the driveway"(smile) You will be forever missed and never forgotten. RIP Marqueis.

I remember the good times we shared at Beulah elementary school when we dated back in the 3rd or 4th grade lol that was so funny, we hung out all the time, its just crazy knowing that your gone but you will truly be missed R.I.P Marqueis

It was like yesterday we were riding bus 508 and u greg issac arron use to always pick on me because I was little...lol.....and I remeber wen ur sister was small and u use to always be there for her...I just breaks my heart that u had to leave so early...my heart goes out to your family and friends....To April I know that you feel like your life is over but with God on your side your battle is not over. Stay strong for him and Camdon and stay strong for yourself. With time and healing this wound will be healed. I hate having to say this but R.I.P Marqueis "Queis" Burgess. You will truley be missed.
