Mrs. Mary Ella Lee, 92, of 17106 Hamilton Arms Road, DeWitt, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Riverview on the Appomattox Nursing Facility, Hopewell.

Mrs. Lee was born in the Camp Pickett area on Sept. 15, 1920, to the late Henry and Hattie Bland Moore. She attended the old Jones School No. 7 in Blackstone. In 1946, she met and married the late Arthur Lee. She was a member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, and served faithfully as a former president of the Pastors Aid, a Sunday school teacher, and member of the Usher Board. She was also a member of the Lillian B. Wynn Memorial Lodge. Mrs. Lee retired from Days Inn Hotel, Walthal, Va. She also managed Vandy's Grocery in DeWitt for 15 years.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters.
She leaves to cherish precious memories of her, three devoted sons, Arthur T. Lee and Joseph A. Lee of DeWitt, and Christopher O. Lee (Karen) of Maryland; three grandchildren, David Howard, Jason Thorpe and Alanda Lee; four sisters-in-law, Beatrice Moore, Kathryn Moore, Lillian Moore and Dorothy Elder; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins other relatives and devoted friends, among them, Mary H. Hicks, Thelma Gholson, Emily Johnson, Gertrude Morgan, Rosa Richardson, and all of The Golden Girls of DeWitt.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, DeWitt with the pastor, the Rev. Gerald Brandon, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive family and friends at the residence and can be contacted at 804-469-7464. Mrs. Lee's remains may be viewed on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home in McKenney and at the church one hour prior to the service.
