Mrs. Mary Lee Taylor Jackson, of Hopewell, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother departed this life Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at River View on the Appomattox after a brief illness.

Mary Lee was born Dec.1, 1937, in Disputanta to the late Willie and Mary Williams Taylor. She left peacefully to be with many close family members too numerous to mention: sisters, Betty Fitzgerald (Wilson) Gladys Taylor, Verl Taylor, and Ann Fields (Nathaniel); and brother, Adam "Smokey" Taylor.

She joined First Baptist Church (Disputanta) at an early age. She attended Prince George Public School System and was a graduate of Carter G. Woodson High School.

She loved life and had a will to live for her family as a mother, wife and friend to all who knew her kind heart.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories; husband, Henry Jackson; daughters, Mary "Teri" Jackson and Henrietta "LaVern" Jackson; son, Maury W. Jackson, all of Hopewell; two sisters, Willie Mae Taylor of Hopewell and Inez Taylor of Maryland; grandchildren, Latoya Jackson, Kia Studivant, Tion Studivant, Niasia Frazier and Quita Frazier; great-grandchildren, Karvion Jackson, LaVaijah Jackson and Trevian D. Shawn Jr.; sisters-in-law, Junella Burke and Eva Pleasant ; brothers-in-law, Bobby Jackson of Disputanta and Kenneth Jackson of Hopewell; godsons, ReJohn Jones, Larry and Anthony Dent; goddaughter, Wanda Jones; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives; and friends, among them, Ashley, Gwen and Trevion Sr.; devoted nieces, Deborah Doggett, Dottie Webb, Cheryl Taylor, Betty Monroe, Liz Taylor, and Donna Moore, for all your support.

Thanks for being there to the end, Hopewell Health Center and staff, River View on the Appomattox staff, Hospice of Va. staff (Wanda, Ciera, Angelette, Maggie and Rachel). To all the pastors and chaplains, the Rev. Sylvia Tucker, the Rev. Brown, the Rev. Blackwell and the Rev. Lane of Southside Regional Medical Center for always visiting my mother's room with a prayer.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at Turner-Bland Chapel, 1500 Arlington Road, Hopewell, the Rev. Dr. Robert Barnes, will officiate. The family will assemble at 12:30 p.m. on the day of service.
