Maryland Brighton Adenauer, 83, of Colonial Heights, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at Southside Regional Medical Center.

She was born in West Long Branch, N.J., and was the daughter of the late Alvin and Lillian Rose Robbins Brighton. She attended public schools in Asbury Park and Ocean Township, N.J. She attended Farleigh Dickinson University in New Brunswick, N.J., and graduated with a humanities of arts degree.
Mrs. Adenauer is survived by her husband, Charles G. Adenauer; sons, Andy Adenauer, Carl Adenauer, Barry Adenauer and wife, Angela, all of Colonial Heights; daughters, Holly Kenney of Roanoke, Leslie Tyler and husband, Joe, of Colonial Heights, Carol Warro of Colonial Heights, and Cheryl Howerton and husband, Frankie, of Colonial Heights; 28 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, in Wesley United Methodist Church, 3701 Conduit Road, Colonial Heights, VA 23834, with Roger Green officiating. Interment Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 Friday evening in the Colonial Heights chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
