After completing his education at Hopewell High School, he became disabled due to health issues. Maurice enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Most importantly, he enjoyed his children, Shaneiqua and Muguellae Stith. He also enjoyed riding from city to city with his brother, Romey Jr. Maurice accepted Christ at as his Lord and Savior.
Maurice was preceded in death by: his brother, Mark Pope; a sister, Vickie Pope: grandmothers, Geraldine Pope and Beulah Pettaway: and uncles, Lynn and James Lee Jones.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: two daughter, Shaneiqua and Muquella Stith; three sons/nephews, Keshawn, Jayvonte, and Gregory Nesbitt; stepfather, Richard Walker; brothers, Ronnie Pope of Hopewell, Monsanto Pope and Lorenzo Dugger, both of Hampton, Romey Lee Pope Jr. of Petersburg, and Rico Thomas of Hopewell; two sisters, one devoted Christina Pope of Hopewell, and Angela McCray of Petersburg; a devoted fiancée, Tia Houchens; five aunts; five nieces, 10 nephews, and two great-nephews; a host of devoted family members, Burnett Harris, Toya Green, Xzavier Graham, Sandra Stith, Keyshana Stith, Peggy Pope, Sheneka Ferrell, Chennell Coleman, Charles Pettaway, Lovine Williams (aunt/sister); and a host of friends, one devoted, Troy May; and two godchildren, Pernell Jones and Nykira King.
A funeral service for Mr. Maurice Pope will be held at 12 p.m., Friday, April 26, 2013, at the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, the Rev. Marcus Nance, eulogist. The interment will follow at Mt. Sinai Cemetery, Prince George.
