Mr. Melvin "Bo" Thomas of 5411 W. Quaker Road, Disputanta, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013. He was baptized at an early age at the Rose of Sharon where he attended in the younger years of his life.

Mr. Melvin Thomas was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas and Clara Roach; and James and Daisy Thomas.
He is survived by: his parents, James Thomas (Yvonne) of Petersburg, and Helen Harper (Jerome) of Chester; a daughter, Monica Peterson (William Jr.) of Petersburg; four grandchildren, William III, Michael, McKenzi and Whitnie; brothers, Alfred Thomas (Stephanie) of Prince George, and James A. Thomas of Disputanta; sisters, Clara Silva (Paul) of Henrico, Vanessa Johnson (McKinley) of Lynchburg, Cynthia Gilkey (Charles) of Tennessee and Kim Wright of Georgia; special friends, Pattie Rhame of Hopewell; Melvin's scooter pal and running buddy, Lewis Swann of Richmond, and a host of aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; and numerous devoted friends.
Services for Mr. Melvin "Bo" Thomas will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 800 Augusta Ave., Petersburg, the Rev. Dr. Wesley K. McLaughlin, pastor, and Bishop Walter Roach, eulogist. Interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
