Pearly Crawley Obituary

Mrs. Pearly Ann Porter Crawley, 96, of The Golden Living Center, South Boulevard, Petersburg, Va., formerly of Roanoke Avenue, West Petersburg, departed this life suddenly on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va. She was born June 2, 1914, to the late Jordan Porter and Molly Maclin Pryor Porter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Crawley; and her son, John 0. Crawley. Preceding her also in death were seven sisters; and two brothers.

Pearly was a retired employee of Central State Hospital, Petersburg, and a member of Center Star Baptist Church, Dinwiddie, Va., where she worshipped faithfully until her health began to decline.

She leaves to treasure her memories: a grandson, John O. Crawley Jr. of Long Beach, Calif.; grand­daughter, Mary Ann Nicholas Winfield of Dinwiddie; sisters-in-law, Susie Crawley of Dinwiddie, and Ann Bingham of Southampton, N.Y.; and one brother-in-law Collier Crawley of Southampton, N.Y.; several nieces, devoted, Fannie M. Johnson of Petersburg; nephews; other great-nieces; great-nephews; grand-nieces; grand-nephews; cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was loved dearly by many and will be missed greatly by all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at Center Star Baptist Church, Dinwiddie, where the Rev. Earl Thompson Sr. will officiate and the Rev. Herbert W. Anderson will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park. Public viewing will be held from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, at the Petersburg Chapel Johnson's Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. The family will assemble at the residence of her niece, 2304 Buckner St., Petersburg, at 11 a.m. on the day of the service, and may be contacted at (804) 861-6405.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the management and staff of The Joseph M. Johnson and Son Funeral Home, 530 S. Sycamore St,, Petersburg (804) 863-4411.

Aunt Pearl, I will miss you very much. I will tresure the times we spent together. You were always so cheerful and knowledgeable about our family. You lived a wonderful life, and you were a wonderful person. We will miss you, and we loved you. I was so glad that I gave you your 96th birthday party. You will always be in my throughts.
