Rachel Madeline Joyce, 84, of Hopewell, passed away on May 11, 2013.

She was the daughter of the late Jackson J. and Madeline Tosh Atkins Rollins; and was also preceded in death by a son, David A. Walker; a grandson, Kenneth G. Rowe; one brother, Jackson J. Rollins Jr.; and a sister, Evelyn Byrd Wathen. Mrs. Joyce retired from the Accounting Department at Honeywell Tech Center. She held offices with the Virginia Credit Union and Peoples Advantage Credit Union. Rachel was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church in Hopewell.
She is survived by her husband, George E. Joyce of Hopewell; a son, Robert Walker (Janice) of Varina; three daughters, Norma Peel of Whitestone, Va., Sherri Rowe and Karen Butor (Steve), both of Prince George; three stepsons, Andy Joyce (Judy), George Joyce (Dottie) and Michael Joyce (Krystal); three stepdaughters, Pam Joyce Burton (Allen), Melissa Joyce Burton (Bryan) and Linda Joyce Jones (Mark); two sisters, Betty Mysza of Fort Worth, Texas, and Sally Taylor of Prince George; a brother, Charles Rollins of Claremont, Va.; six grandchildren, Eric and Michael Rowe, Adam Walker, Sean Cook, and Chris and Rachel Butor; 10 great-grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Liberty Baptist Church, 3808 Woodlawn St., Hopewell, VA 23860, with the Rev. Phil Andrews and the Rev. Dr. Tom Lovorn officiating. Interment will follow in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George, Va.
