Mr. Raymond V. Richardson Sr. entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013. He was born on Feb. 25, 1930, to the late Mabel and John Norma Richardson.

Raymond was educated in the Petersburg Public School System and a graduate of Peabody High School and the magistrate certification program. He was member of Second Baptist Church, Petersburg and Lodge member of Eureka #15.

He retired after 30 years with the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier and 17 years as a magistrate with the Eleventh Judicial District, Petersburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; son, Raymond V. Richardson Jr; brothers, John, Charles and Roger Richardson; and sisters, Mabel R. Cartwright, Hattie R. Taylor and Clementine B. Richardson.

He leaves with fond memories to cherish: his devoted and loving wife, Laura Salter Richardson; sons, Michael D. Richardson (Eunice Faye) of Henrico and Kevin W. Richardson of Petersburg; daughters, Cassandra R. Richardson of Petersburg, Kara R. Dungee of Smyrna, Ga.; two sisters-in-law, Fannie Richardson of Richmond and Vashti G. Richardson of Ettrick; daughter-in-law, Carolyn M. Richardson of Aurora, Colo.; nine grandchildren; goddaughter, Tricia C. Bell; and family of Prince George; extended family to include James (Shim) Pope, Ann T. Crawford, Melvin and Zelda Griffin, Patricia J. Martin, Zachary and Clarissa Savage; host of nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

A funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at Second Baptist Church, 3355 Johnson Road, Petersburg, the Dr. Joseph Lewis, pastor, officiating. The interment will follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park with Masonic Rites.

The family will receive friends and acquaintances at the funeral home Sunday from 6 to 7 p.m. A public viewing will only take place Sunday from 6 to 7 p.m. and Monday one hour to service.
