Robert Bishop Obituary
He was the son of the late John Otis Bishop Sr. and Florence Riddle Bishop, and was preceded in death by two brothers, John Otis Bishop Jr. and William Earl Bishop, and a sister, Bertha Pugh. Mr. Bishop was a retired Air Force veteran having served during the Vietnam War, and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He retired from Shell Chemical Co. as a manager. He was a member of the DAV, Hopewell VFW and the Colonial Heights American Legion Post #284.
Mr. Bishop is survived by his Irish wife of 55 years, Mary Hogan Bishop; two sisters, Beatrice Thayer and husband, Leslie, of Dinwiddie, and Louise Woolridge of Hopewell; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family in England, Ireland and Australia.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Rev. Keith Ritchie officiating. Interment Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.

Aunt Mary,
I am so sorry for your loss, I keep remember the time we were at the Catholic Church for David Jr. and Misty Dickey'baptism, and Uncle Bobby telling me it would be okay, That the Bishop was in the house. (meaning him) I'll never forget that. I have missed you both. May God hold you and see you through these difficult times.
