God's will was done when he discharged his weary soldier from his last tour of duty. Mr. Roosevelt Nicholas Jr., affectionately known as "Bubba Nick," 63, completed the last chapter of his Earthly life after of a period of declining health at 3806 Plantation Place, Petersburg, Va., on Monday morning, July 16, 2012.

Bubba was born on Sept. 6, 1948, to Maggie Epps Nicholas and the late Roosevelt Nicholas Sr. of Dinwiddie, Va.

Bubba attended public school in Dinwiddie, Va. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a dedicated member of Center Star Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Board of Trustees and the Brotherhood Ministry. He was a veteran of the United States Army and he retired from Dinwiddie County Public School System. Bubba endured much during his illness but he remained strong and courageous during his battle.

Bubba leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory, a loving and devoted mother, Maggie Epps Nicholas; three children, Karen, Keith and Terry Nicholas; one grandson, Norrin Nicholas; three devoted sisters, Mary A. Winfield, Yvonne A. Short and Tonga M. Nicholas (Robert); three loving brothers, Charles A. Nicholas Sr. (Maryln), William E. Nicholas and Larry S. Nicholas (Sharon); five aunts, Martha Montgomery, Emma Riddick, Louise Whitby, Louise Epps and Geneva Epps; two uncles, Richard Epps Jr. (Barbara) and Henry Stewart; 26 nieces and nephews, with a very devoted and loving niece and nephew, Angela and Merrill Morgan Sr.; a supportive and caring lady love, Faye Williams; a devoted cousin, James Russell Morgan; and a host of other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Heartland Hospice Care and the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012, at Center Star Baptist Church, located at 11627 Wheelers Pond Road, Dinwiddie, Va., with the Rev. Dr. Jimmie L. Walker Sr. officiating. Interment will be held at the Center Star Baptist Church Cemetery. Public viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at the funeral home.
